Why Should I Support the PTO?

The mission of the Jamestown Parent Teacher Organization is to promote the best interests of children at home and in school through the shared cooperation of families and teachers. A non-profit 501(c)3 organization, the PTO was established to provide educational resources, enrichment, and support to students, parents, and teachers of Jamestown 's schools.

Anyone can support the PTO by:

•  Contributing financially (see form below)

•  attending our monthly meetings (2nd Weds of each month)

•  volunteering time to help with one of our projects/events (this does NOT need to be a huge time commitment!)

What Does the PTO Do with the Money Raised?

•  Provides funding to teachers for classroom supplies, special projects, books & field trips

•  Schedules & sponsors cultural arts & enrichment assemblies (e.g. science programs, dance, music, storytellers) that broaden students' learning

•  Organizes & sponsors family activities such as health & wellness outings (e.g. ice skating, rock climbing), movie nights, & other family fun nights (BINGO, ice cream social)

•  Holds annual parent seminars, a teacher appreciation luncheon and teacher appreciation week activities, & an ice cream social for incoming military families

•  Contributes to the 6th grade overnight trip to Alton Jones & the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C., lowering student costs

•  Pays school-related expenses for any child with financial need

•  Donates to non-PTO programs that benefit Jamestown 's students (e.g. KidsROCK project, School Improvement Team initiatives, Teen Center )
