Fundraising

Golf tournament:  We are holding our major annual fundraiser – a golf tournament and dinner – in just TWO weeks on September 26.  Please join us!  You can sign up to play in the golf tournament and/or for  a steak or swordfish dinner, or you can just come enjoy the company of friends while browsing our silent auction of over 100 items.  Don’t delay; sign up today!

Tile fundraiser: The PTO’s has only one other fundraiser planned for this school year, one in which families purchase tiles for their children to design.  The completed tiles will be fired and framed and hung in the school hallway.  We will kick off this fundraiser in early 2010.

This rough schedule does not include health and wellness events, which will also be planned throughout the year.

Babysitting at PTO Meetings:  We are in need of babysitters during PTO meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 3pm.  Sitters are compensated.  Do you have or know of a teenager who can help with this?

Open Houses:  PTO volunteer sign up sheets will be out at both the Lawn Open House (9/16) and the Melrose Open House (9/23).  We will not be holding a PTO Volunteer Fair this year.  Volunteers are needed to set-up & staff the PTO volunteer sign-up tables at the Open Houses.  Ideally, parents of Melrose students would help at the Lawn Open House, and vice versa.

Movie Nights: The first movie night of the year will be held on Friday, October 23 in the Melrose multipurpose room.  Movie TBD.  One or more volunteers are needed to coordinate this year’s movie nights (about 2 or 3 total).  This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to become more involved but is wary of taking on a big project.

Harvest Fair: The PTO’s annual Harvest Fair is tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 30.  Location will be either Escobar’s or Schartner’s.  Food will be served, and Halloween costumes will be encouraged.  One or more volunteers are needed to organize this event.  This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to a short-term project and then be done!
