PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
OCTOBER 2, 1996

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
Roll was called and the following were present:

I. READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES from the meeting of September 18,
1996.
A motion was made by Commissioner Butterfield and seconded by Commissioner
Brennan to approve the minutes of September 18, 1996 as corrected.
The corrections are as follows:
-page 2; IV., b. - the last sentence should read as follows: "The
concrete panel will be arranged to front existing supports."
-page 3; VI., strike #4.
So voted: 6-0

II. CORRESPONDENCE
1. Copy of Correspondence from the University of Rhode Island
Cooperative Extension On-Site Wastewater Training Center to The Town
Planner.
RE: The Town's application for funds to install ten innovative
septic systems Received and Acknowledged
2. CRMC FINDING NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT to Nicholas Schaus, P.O. Box 132,
Jamestown, RI 02835 RE: CLMA 3' x 5' addition to existing kitchen,
reshingle exterior as needed located at 57 Walcott Avenue, Jamestown, Plat
9, lot 322. Received and Acknowledged
3. CRMC File Number 96-7-81, Assent Number A96-7-81 Whereas, Ms. Frances
Shocket, Town Administrator, TOWN OF JAMESTOWN, Town Offices - P.O. Box
377, Jamestown, RI 02835 has applied to construct a new veterans'
memorial and various landscape improvements at Veterans' Memorial Square,
located at Plat 8 & 9, Lots 171 & 356 respectively, as well as the
unnumbered parcel between them, Conanicus Avenue, Jamestown, RI.

III. CITIZENS NON-AGENDA ITEM
Citizens Donald and Elaine Hunt discussed the drainage problem at
Cumberland Farms.
The Commission informed the Hunts that Cumberland Farms is
addressing the problem by creating a retention pond in the back of
Cumberland Farms property.
The Commission recommended the Town Planner talk to Steve Goslee
about Watson Road and if the drainage system is working properly.

The Town Planner could not attend the meeting due to illness, please move
on to Subcommittees.

With nothing to report at this time, move on to Town Committees.

With nothing to report at this time, move on to Old Business.
V. OLD BUSINESS
1. Open Space Zoning Memorandum - A motion was made by Commissioner
Foley and seconded by Commissioner Butterfield to approve the Town
Planner's written recommendation for Open Space Zoning. So voted: 7-0

VI. NEW BUSINESS
1. Cumberland Farms - Development Plan Review Application - A
continuance was requested by Cumberland Farms for the first scheduled
meeting in November.
