TOWN COUNCIL
JAMESTOWN, RHODE ISLAND
September 2, 1999
A special meeting of the Jamestown Town Council was called to order at
the Jamestown Philomenian Library, 26 North Road, at 8:00 PM by Council
President David J. Long. The following members were present:
Kenneth J. Littman, Vice President
Craig A. Amerigian
Bruce W. McIntyre
David Swain
Also present were:
Arlene D. Kalooski, Town Clerk
Maryanne Crawford, CPA, Town Administrator/Finance Director
John Howard, Quonset Davisville Liaison Committee
SITTING AS ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSING COMMISSION
1) Application of Charles T. Masso c/o Chopmist Charlies for a Class
F-1 (1-9 hour; full)alcoholic beverage license (09/06/99; Rembijas
Pavilion)
The Clerk informed the Council that the date of the function should be
September 4, 1999.
It was additionally reported that the caterer has the proper
insurance coverage in place.
It was moved by Councilor Long, seconded by Councilor Swain to grant
the one day liquor license for September 4, 1999. So unanimously voted.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1) Council communications referred to the Quonset Davisville Liaison
Committee re: draft letters
a) Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (referred by
Council
07/27/1999)
b) Save Our State (referred by Council 08/10/1999)
John Howard gave an overview of the draft letters requested by the
Council.
Discussion ensued, with the Council expressing their continued
concern on the effects that a large container port would have on both the
Narragansett Bay and the quality of life in Jamestown.
It was moved by Councilor Amerigian, Seconded by Councilor Long to
approve the letter as presented and request that they be sent to the
appropriate individuals.
So unanimously vote.
Councilor Long suggested that he would like to see a copy of the
letter to John Swen of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation
forwarded to the Jamestown Press.
There being no further business before the Council, it was moved by
Councilor Long, seconded by Councilor McIntyre to adjourn the meeting at
8:10 PM. So unanimously voted.
