  Town Council Business
  (continued from June 9)

Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights: (General Assembly bill which
proposes to reduce the appeal rights to municipalities and change the
punishment procedure); Ms. Shocket: The opposition to inclusion of this
language is supported by the Police Chiefs Association and the RI League
of Cities and Towns; I understand a substitute bill may have been
introduced; if this Council also opposes it, I would suggest you be
specific to Senate Bill #97-S-0553 as introduced on February 11, 1997;
this does not take away the grievance procedures allowed by contract.

Motion by Councilor Pease, seconded by Councilor Wright to draft a
resolution similar to the Town of Burrillville's in opposition to this
Act, and forward same to our legislators. So unanimously voted.

There being no further business before the Council, motion by Councilor
Wright, seconded by Councilor Dolce to adjourn the meeting as Town Council
and as the Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners at 9:44 PM.
     So unanimously voted.

Theresa C. Donovan, CMC
