Senior Scholarship Grant 2013
$5,000.00 Award
Eligibility:
Any High School student, who is a
resident of Newport County,
and will be graduating in 2013 from a High
School in Rhode Island.
Purpose:
To promote and support the creation,
practice, and enjoyment of art in young
residents of
Newport
County.
Criteria:
Awarding of the Scholarship Grant will
be made based on the quality and achievement
shown by the work submitted.
CIAA reserves the right to request presentation
of originals, and to contact art instructors.
Application:
Student applicants for the Scholarship
Grant must submit a completed application,
together with a CD or DVD containing
high-quality images of at least six two- or
three-dimensional works recently created by them
in high school art classes.
Three-dimensional work should be photographed
from several angles.
Information on medium, size, and weight (if
3-D), must be provided for each work.
Applicant must also submit a statement,
300 words or less, describing the
experience of creating the work, and also any
plans for future study or involvement in art.
Entries due by
May 17, 2013.
Notice of
Award:
Judging of entries will be made during the week
of May 20, 2013, by a panel of artists
and art educators. The
winning student will be notified in early June,
by letter, and/or at their school awards
ceremony, and will be invited to exhibit works
selected by the judging panel at the
Conanicut Island Annual Art Exhibit at the Jamestown Community Center in July.
The work displayed will be for award
purposes only, and need not be for sale.
